Achillea millefolium
Yarrow is known for its astringent properties. Yarrow was traditionally used as an anti-inflammatory and in cold preparations. Yarrow was used in the brewing process to flavour beer before hops were used.
Source: Achillea millefolium is grown throughout Europe and in the USA.
Extraction: Yarrow essential oil is steam distilled from the flowers of the plant.
Aroma: Yarrow essential oil has a green, sweet, herbaceous and slightly camphoraceous scent.
Fragrance note: Middle.
Properties: Yarrow essential oil is antibacterial, antiseptic and carminative. The aroma is relaxing and can help to release feelings of anxiety and stress. When employed with massage it can soothe digestion and ease the menstrual cycle.
Uses: Massage, baths and vaporization.
Blends well with: Bay, Black Pepper, Bergamot, Cedarwood, Chamomile, Clary Sage, Cypress, Grapefruit, Lavender, Neroli, Oakmoss, Pine, Valerian, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang
Caution: Always dilute to 5% or less before application to the skin.
Avoid while pregnant.
