Source: Melaleuca viridifolia is produced in Australia.
Extraction: Niaouli essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and young twigs of the plant. (Usually rectified to remove irritant aldehydes).
Aroma: Niaouli has a sweet, fresh, camphoraceous scent.
Fragrance note: Middle.
Properties: Niaouli belongs to the same family as Tea Tree and shares similar properties. Niaouli essential oil is antiseptic and bactericidal. It is used in aromatherapy to help ease the symptoms of a cold by supporting the respiratory system.
It can also be used to soothe burns, wounds and insect bites. It can help balance oily skin. Used in massage to relieve aches and pains and to improve poor circulation.
Uses: Massage, baths and vaporization.
Blends well with: Bergamot, Eucalyptus, Lavender, Lemon, Orange, Pine and Tea Tree.
Caution: Always dilute Niaouli essential oil to 5% or less in carrier oil before applying.
Keep it away from children and pets. It is non-toxic and non-irritant but with possible sensitization in some individuals.
