Melaleuca leucendron var. cajaputi
The name Cajaput (sometimes spelt as Cajeput) comes from the Malay 'Caju-Puti' meaning white tree, It has been used since the 17th century by Europeans for its antiseptic qualities.
Source: Melaleuca leucendron is prevalent throughout Indonesia but the main commercial source is the island of Sulawesi.
Extraction: Cajaput essential oil is obtained by steam distillation of the leaves and twigs of the cajaputi tree.
Aroma: Cajaput essential oil has a penetrating, sweet and herbaceous scent.
Fragrance note: Top.
Properties: Cajaput essential oil is antiseptic and used in aromatherapy to relieve symptoms of respiratory infections and support a healthy immune system. The aroma stimulates the senses and promotes positive wellbeing.
Uses: Massage, bath and inhalation. Dilute Cajaput essential oil with a carrier for a massage to relieve muscles and joints. Do not swallow.
Blends well with: Angelica, Bergamot, Cardamom, Clove, Geranium, Lavender, Myrtle, Niaouli, Nutmeg, Rose, Rosewood and Thyme.
Caution: Ensure proper dilution before applying Cajaput essential oil to your skin.
